melodic minor

there are many uses with this scale.  for example when playing Dmin7(-5), G7(+9), to Cmin, you can use many different melodic minor scales to improvise with.  over the Dmin7, play F melodic minor.  over the G7 their are 3 different scales you can use.  Ab melodic minor, Eb melodic minor, and D melodic minor (not used as much but still works).  and on the last chord, Cmin, plain old C melodic minor works.

even if it’s a II-V-I to Cmaj7, instead of Cmin, those scales work over the D and G chords.  but on Cmaj7, you can’t play a C melodic minor.
